Here are some activities for you to do in the last week of term.

Have a go at one or all of the activities listed below linked to the theme of Rocks. 

 

Story of a rock

 

Grow your own crystals.

  • Watch the video which sets out a simple step by step process to follow to grow your own crystals. You will need: fine table salt (Epsom if possible); a jar; some water; a spoon; some food colouring; and a measuring cup.

  • Want a challenge? Try out using different colourings to get a variety of colours of crystals or, if you place a piece of wire into your jar, you can create different shapes by curving and shaping the wire. 

 

Fossil art

  • Watch the video which sets out a simple step by step process to follow to grow your own beautiful faux fossils.  Watch the video through at least once before attempting your own artwork.  You will need: a canvas panel or some stiff card; thin wire or pipe cleaners; pastels or poster paints; PVA glue; and tissue paper or kitchen towels.
