Other Curriculum Areas
On this page, you will find a range of activities for different subjects. These are extra ideas which could be done after English and Maths each day - maybe in the afternoons. Each week, choose one piece of learning that you are especially proud of, take a photo of it and ask you parents to upload it onto tapestry for Miss Williams to see.
Art
There has been a lot in the news recently about the Black Lives Matter movement. This is because, sometimes, people are treated differently because of the colour of their skin. It is really important to respect and learn about other cultures. Last week, we learnt about Lois Mailou Jones and the teachers were amazed by the quality of artwork that was emailed in.
This week, we are going to learn about the Tanzanian painter Edward Tingatinga (1932 - 1972). He was famous for painting incredible pictures of African animals. He was so good, that his style of painting has been named after him - Tingatinga painting!
Start the lesson by researching a bit about Edward and looking at some of his paintings. You could start by clicking on this link below:

Then, to get some inspiration, watch the theme tune below from the Cbeebies program Tingatinga Tales telling traditional African folk stories using Tingatinga art inspired creations.
After that, you can either choose your own African animal to paint or you can watch the step by step video below to show you how to paint a leopard in a Tingatinga style (you might even recognise one of our own Northleaze teachers!).
