Here are several ideas that you may like to try as a family:

Create a time capsule

You are experiencing an unprecedented time in history. The world is in lockdown, schools are closed to almost everybody and you and your family are living in your own bubble. You probably won't ever experience a time like this again (hopefully.) You and your family may wish to create a time capsule to bury somewhere in your garden so that years down the line, people might discover it and find out about you and this time in history. There are lots of good examples on line that you could look at but here are some things that you may wish to include:

  • a picture/ photo of your family
  • a letter to say what's happening in the world at the moment
  • a newspaper or news article with the date on it

There are PDFs on this website if you want some templates and ideas to include.

'I'm looking forward to...' jar

No doubt there are things in life that you are missing and things you are looking forward to when the Corona pandemic passes. In my family we have started to create a 'I'm looking forward to...' jar. We've written down things that we are looking forward to doing after the lockdown finishes. My husband really wants to sit in the sunshine in a beer garden with family and friends; I want to go camping; Amelia wants to go see her friends and go swimming; and Isaac can't really talk yet but we think he'd like to go to Wild Place. Every time someone mentions something they miss or look forward to, we write it on a small piece of paper, fold it and put it in a jar on our dining room table. When the lockdown finishes, we are going to take turns to pick out an adventure.

What are you and your family most looking forward to?
