Other Curriculum Areas
On this page, you will find a range of activities for different subjects. These are extra ideas which could be done after English and Maths each day - maybe in the afternoons. Each week, choose one piece of learning that you are especially proud of, take a photo of it and ask you parents to email it to the Year 6 email address. Mrs Simmons will be looking at your work this week and she can't wait to see what you've been up to.
Art
Make a funky fish to put in your window. First, draw the outline of a fish. Then, collect lots of brightly coloured paper from magazines, junk mail, newspaper and packaging. Cut these into different shapes to decorate your fish. Next, glue them in place like scales and draw or stick on an eye. Try not to leave any gaps in your design (if you don’t have glue, make a mixture of ½ cup of flour and ½ cup water and mix together. Add more water if it is too thick). Can you also decorate the background? What words can you find to add to your design?
Below you will find the PowerPoint and activity sheet to link to the first lessons on the Maya. In this lesson you will find out where the Maya lived and be using maps to help you identify the locations of their cities.

For the remainder of the term, we will be focusing on the unit 'light'. This week we will explore and learn about the different parts of the eye and their functions. Please follow lesson 1 in the 'Y6 Light Home Learning PowerPoint' and find the corresponding sheets attached below.

In this lesson, we will be learning about the teachings of Buddha and the book in which these were recorded: the Tipitaka. We will learn about the three sections of the Tipitaka and we will consider the importance of what Buddhists describe as Nirvana.
PE
Try to do some physical activity each day. You could join the teachers who (mostly) do a Joe Wicks workout every morning at 9am!

This week, the LSP have set a cookery challenge! They want children from across the MAT to get cooking. Choose your favourite recipe and cook it together as a family. Don't forget to take some photos! Copy the recipe out in your best, neatest handwriting.
Then, email your recipe along with some photos, to the office with your name and age. Please put 'LSP Cooking Challenge' as the email subject.
