Other Curriculum Areas
On this page, you will find a range of activities for different subjects. These are extra ideas which could be done after English and Maths each day - maybe in the afternoons. Each week, choose one piece of learning that you are especially proud of and ask you parents to take a photo of it and email to the Year 4 email address to show Mrs Stewart or Mrs Simmons.
Geography
Continuing with our India topic, your task this week is to use an atlas to answer the challenge cards below. You may choose how you present the information: bullets points of information, a poster or a leaflet for example.
Art
(linked to our Geography)
The royalty of India - both Hindu and Muslim - understood long ago that you looked more powerful from the back of an elephant! Elephants are also sacred in India and the Hindu elephant god Ganesh is prayed to before starting anything new. Your task is to decorate your own painted elephant using the outlne below if you wish. You can choose whether you use felt tips, pencil crayons, pastels, chalk, collage or paint. The more colourful and eye cacthing, the better!

RE - Hinduism
Finding out about Hindu worship (Puja)
Use the link below to watch a short clip about Puja.
Then, read through the short PowerPoint to find out more.
When you are finished, you could either draw the Hindu Puja tray and label it using the information on the PowerPoint or you could use your imagination and design your own Puja tray which you could use to worship a God of your choice.
Science
Do you know that the main job is of each part of a plant?
In this lesson you will identify the five main parts of a plant and find out about the function of each one.
Before you start the lesson, think about:
What parts of a plant do you already know?
Do all plants have the same parts?
To start the lesson, click on the link below to watch the video. Pause it when asked and complete the tasks set out the worksheet below or on paper. If you use the worksheet there is no need to set out a page as directed in the video. Miss Roberts suggests a follow up experiment which you can do if you wish. You will need to two small plants.

Then, think about different leaves. Do all leaves look the same? If you can, go out into your garden, to the woods or to a park and have a look at all the different shapes, sizes and colours of leaves. Note down the differences by either drawing pictures or taking photographs to produce a leaf study.
Want to find out more? Follow the link to find out more details about each part by clicking on the labels.

This week, the LSP have set a cookery challenge! They want children from across the MAT to get cooking. Choose your favourite recipe and cook it together as a family. Don't forget to take some photos! Copy the recipe out in your best, neatest handwriting.
Then, email your recipe along with some photos, to the office with your name and age. Please put 'LSP Cooking Challenge' as the email subject.
