Other Curriculum Areas
On this page, you will find a range of activities for different subjects. These are extra ideas which could be done after English and Maths each day - maybe in the afternoons. Each week, choose one piece of learning that you are especially proud of and ask you parents to take a photo of it and email to the Year 1 email address. Mrs Bertenshaw will be looking at the learning this week and can't wait to see what you have been up to.
Art
Have you read the book 'The Rainbow Fish?' It's a great story. Watch a video of it below. Then make a rainbow fish to put in your window. Draw the outline of a fish. Then, collect lots of brightly coloured paper from magazines, junk mail, newspaper and packaging. Cut it into different shapes to decorate your fish. Glue them in place like scales and draw or stick on an eye (if you don’t have glue, you can make a mixture of ½ cup of flour and ½ cup water and mix together. Add more water if it is too thick).

Science
How do you think the weather change across the seasons?
In this lesson you will be recapping on the different types of weather and looking in more detail about the weather in different seasons.
Before you start the lesson, think about the different types of weather that you know. How many weather words can you remember?
You will need: a writing pencil, a green pen/pencil, the worksheet below (you can print it or just write on paper if you don't have a printer) and your drawing of the weather from last week.
To start, try the quiz but don’t worry of you get things wrong. To practise your season words, you could play hangman or jumble up the letters and rearrange them to make the correct spellings.
During the video you will be prompted to ‘Have your turn’ where you should answer questions or repeat key facts. At the end of the video you can listen to a story about a famous female scientist called Eugenie Clark.

Then, use old magazines or books to create a collage showing the weather in each season. When you have finished, take a photo to email to the Year 1 address.
Geography
In this lesson, we are going to be virtually flying all across Europe and learning more about this wonderful continent. We will be learning all about how many people live in Europe, what food you can eat if you visit and what places you would see. You will need a piece of paper and a pencil for this lesson. Click the link below to get started.
PE
Try to do some physical activity each day. You could join the teachers who (mostly) do a Joe Wicks workout every morning at 9am!
