Other Curriculum Areas
On this page, you will find a range of activities for different subjects. These are extra ideas which could be done after English and Maths each day - maybe in the afternoons. Each week, choose one piece of learning that you are especially proud of, take a photo of it and as your parents to email it to the Year 6 email address.
Art
You could create some art inspired by Andy Goldsworthy.
Create your own picture or pattern with natural materials by using things you find. Go on a walk or look in your garden. Gather some small items together – leaves, petals, grasses, pebbles (don’t break bits off of trees or plants please!). Then, arrange your items to make a pattern or picture. You could take photos of your work to share.

PSHE
In these strange times, it's good to remind ourselves that we all have lots of great qualities that make us special.
Write a list of some of your good qualities. What makes you, you? What are you proud of?
Then, you could make a list of qualities you admire in your friends or family.
Are there any qualities you would like to work on developing in yourself?
RE
In this lesson, we will be finding out about Siddhartha Gautama. He is the first individual to have achieved enlightenment through the practice of meditation. He became known as Buddha, which means ‘the enlightened one’. We will learn about his life and his journey to enlightenment.
Make sure you have a pencil and paper ready. Click the link below when you are ready to start.
PE
Try to do some physical activity each day. You could join the teachers who (mostly) do a Joe Wicks workout every morning at 9am!

ICT/PSHE
Following on from mental health awareness week, we would like you to put together a video that illustrates the ways in which you have been kind at home: how you have been kind to yourself; kind to your family members; or kind to your local community. The idea being that we highlight all the good that has been, or is being, done for ourselves and those around us - don't know about you, but too much negativity can be a bit overwhelming sometimes and concentrating on the good can be just what we need to give us a little boost.
So, during this next week, film yourself - or get a family member to help - explaining, a) what you think kindness means and, b) how you have been kind to yourself and others. Once you have completed it, ask your parents to send the video to the Year 6 account and we will attempt to improve our ICT skills by editing all your videos together to make a montage of messages. Have fun!
Music & science
Take a look at how you can combine music and science and have some fun at the same time. Click on the link below to see the experiment: although it asks for beaters, any kind of stick-type implement will work. In fact, you could try out different beaters to see how it affects the sound.
It would be great to hear some of the compositions you come up with so feel free to film your piece, and ask your parents to send it to the Year 6 account - your music could be shared with the whole class!
