Maths

This week, we will still be using the White Rose resources but all videos and worksheets have been downloaded ready for you below. If you don't have a printer, don't worry, just write the answers on paper or in a book.

Our new unit of work is on money. See if you can find some coins in your house. Can you recognise them all from a distance? How quickly can you count a pile of coins? Can you group the coins to help you count quicker?

Try to do Doodle Maths every day!

Last week, Year 5 were the top class!

Oh no! Can you beat them Year 4?

Monday 22nd June

In today's lesson, we will be exploring and converting between pounds and pence.

NB we use the verb form ‘is’ (‘there is 2 pounds’) because we are referring to it as a single amount of money- not the number of coins.

For questions 1 and 6b, please write down your thinking as this will help develop your understanding further.

Today, we will be ordering money. On the worksheet, check carefully whether the question is asking for ascending (going up) or descending (going down) order.

For question 8, challenge yourself to write down all of the possibilities.

Thursday 25th June

In today's lesson, we revise our 4 operations (add, subtract, multiply and divide).

It’s important that you become fluent with the different strategies shown in the lesson so that in the future you are able to apply the most effective one, depending upon the situation.

For question 2 on the worksheet, please write down your explanation.
