English

This week, we will continue using the Oak Academy for our English lessons. On their website, you will watch a video of a lesson taught by a teacher. Then, you will be given some activities to have a go at.

These lessons will build up skills throughout the unit and you will produce a final written piece in lesson 5. Use the button in the right hand corner of the screen to navigate between sections of the lesson. You can pause the video and come back to it at any point.

If you have not finished last week's lessons, please finish those off first before starting a new unit. Remember to take a photo of your final piece every Friday to email in.

This week, we will be writing an alternative ending to a story.

Don't forget the brilliant e-books on Bug Club.

Next, start today's lesson. Complete the introductory quiz and then listen carefully to Mrs Blake in the video. During the independent task, write your answers in your book or on paper. Use the arrows and boxes on the slides to help you to identify the key features. When you have finished, go back to the video to mark your answers.

Don't forget to write with your neat, joined handwriting.

Friday 10th July

Today, you will be writing your own alternative ending to Little Red Riding Hood. Please make sure to pause and complete the sections of the writing when Mr Emmerson asks you too. Use the WAGOLL and sentence starters to help you. Mr Emmerson then goes through some improvements you can make looking at the success criteria. Check these carefully.

When you close the video, there are slides with the WAGOLL and sentence starters to help you.

Make sure you write neatly with joined handwriting. When you have finished, edit your writing carefully. Please check your spellings and punctuation.

Lesson 5: Story: Write an alternative ending to a story.

When you have finished and checked your writing carefully, take a photo of it and ask your parents to email to the Year 5 account. Mrs Simmons and Mrs Bertenshaw will be marking your writing and they can't wait to read your fantastic alternative endings.
