This week, we will continue using the Oak Academy for our English lessons. On their website, you will watch a video of a lesson taught by a teacher. Then, you be given some activities to have a go at.

These lessons will build up skills throughout the unit and you will produce a final written piece in lesson 5. Use the button in the right hand corner of the screen to navigate between sections of the lesson. You can pause the video and come back to it at any point.

If you have not finished last week's lessons, please finish those off first before starting a new unit. Remember to take a photo of your final piece every Friday to email in.

Don't forget the brilliant e-books on Bug Club.

*Make sure that you watch the full video for each lesson and work through as the teachers in the videos direct you*

Monday 8th June

To warm up, have a go at some Doodle spelling or Nessy (if you usually do Nessy at school).

For this lesson, watch the video and use the buttons on the bottom of the screen to navigate between activities. This uses some more complicated, technical vocabulary. You may want to jot these down in a list to help you remember them as you go along.  When you have listened to the input, answer the questions in your exercise books. Then, play the video again to check your answers. At the end of the lesson, complete the quiz to see how well you have done.

Lesson 1: Information Leaflet - reading focus

Tuesday 9th June

Today, warm up by doing some Doodle English.

Then, click on the link below for today's lesson. Listen carefully to the input in the video. It follows the same structure as yesterday’s lesson.

Lesson 2: Newspaper: Information Leaflet - reading focus

Wednesday 10th June

To warm up, watch the video below to improve your vocabulary.

Vocabulary - Feeling Bad Words

This lesson will show you the key features of an information leaflet. Think of it as the WAGOLL. When you answer the task, the questions are numbered. Answer the questions about the key features in your book or on lined paper.  Make sure you punctuate your sentences correctly.

Lesson 3: Information Leaflet - Identifying features

Thursday 11th June

Today, start by having a go at this spelling activity sheet.

Today, you will be planning your own leaflet. Your leaflet can be about anything you like as long as it is informing the reader! If you didn’t get the answers correct yesterday, jot down the key features. These are your success criteria. If you can’t think of any subject, make your leaflet all about Bristol or Long Ashton.

Lesson 4: Information Leaflet - Formality

Friday 12th June

Today, you will be creating your leaflet. Pause the video as you write each section to help you. Refer to the success criteria that you made in the last lesson. Write on lined paper or in your book. Use neat, joined writing. Remember to check your spellings very carefully and proof read your work when you are finished. Does it make sense? Have you challenged yourself to use some advanced punctuation?

Lesson 5: Information Leaflet - Writing an information leaflet

When you have finished, take a photo of your amazing leaflet and ask your parents to email it to the Year 6 email address. Mrs Simmons will be reading your writing this week - she is very excited to see how good your writing is now!
